WWP Transportation
This is the Albany train station, a transportation hub in the mid-valley. This was taken for the WWP Transportation theme.
This was taken at our local train station, near a bus kiosk. As with many such places, this station is really a hub for transportation, and serves as one of the main connecting points for various services in the Oregon Willamette valley. For trains, the station and nearby yards handle a wide variety of industrial and passenger uses. The building is also the local bus station, and the plaza serves as a transfer point for many bus routes.
Of course, cars play a big role in local transportation, and the station includes taxi zones and general loading, unloading, and parking spaces. The complex of bridge and roads in front of the station is an intersection of two rural highways, right on the edge of downtown Albany. Thus, a wide variety of both long and short distance driving is represented.
Looking around closely, one can see a number of bike stands for yet another type of transportation, and also crosswalks for pedestrian transportation.
The mid Willamette valley is also a major air corridor, and one can often see contrails in the sky. The weather prevented it this time, but there are many fewer contrails anyway because of the virus-driven reduction in air travel. In fact, activity at the station is much lower than normal in all ways because of the virus. A revisited WWP theme, reflecting some unique events of 2020…
