Monteith Riverpark (revisited)

This is the Monteith Riverpark, in Albany, Oregon.

This panorama was taken in a local park that is used to host events in addition to being a general-purpose city park. This photo is a repeat of one taken 3 years ago at the same location for the World Wide Panorama “Set” theme. I tried to take it at exactly the same spot as before in order to make the changes clear.

Over the last few years, the city of Albany has been updating this park as part of a bigger project to refresh the entire waterfront of the city. The Willamette River is just beyond the trees behind the stage, and many people like to walk, play, and picnic along the river.

In summer, a concert series is hosted in the park, and the area is usually filled with crowds enjoying the music. That was one of the motivations for rebuilding the stage. Other changes include improved play structures, more sidewalks, more tables, and general improvement of the facilities.

The prompt for doing this particular project was the “20 Years” theme on the World Wide Panorama site. One of the entry types for that theme is to retake an existing WWP panorama in order to see the changes that have happened over time.
