Starting Reconstruction

A little over two years ago, I published an “Under Construction” post, stating that a site redesign was coming imminently. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Since then, the WordPress theme I’ve used for years stopped working, so I moved to a new one that, although not as attractive, was at least functional.

I’ve also been studying redesign options, looking for solutions that go beyond standard photography because of my interest in spherical photos and photoportals.

It’s time to start playing with some of these options, and I plan to use this existing site to do that. Not generally good practice, but I don’t get a lot of regular traffic, so it seems ok.

Thus, the appearance and functionality of the site will start to change radically as I experiment. Once a design is finalized, my goal is for the entire site to be rebuilt. At that point, “wholereality.com” will go to the new site. This location will hopefully remain for a long time, but will be accessed with a different URL — “vrblog.wholereality.com”.

Sharp eyes will notice that vrblog.wholereality.com is the real site URL now; wholereality.com just redirects there. The result of this is that the new site should work, but old bookmarks should also work because of the existing redirection.
