Top of Majestic Falls

Top of Majestic Falls
This was taken from the viewing platform at the top of Majestic Falls, and is my “Best of 2012” entry for the World Wide Panorama project.

Majestic Falls is one of the primary waterfalls in McDowell Creek Falls County Park. The waterfall is usually much larger, but this picture was taken during a time of exceptionally low flow. We had had virtually no rain for several months, which is unusual for October in this part of the world.

There are stairs that go to another viewing platform at the bottom, and in the summer it’s common for people to play in the creek. Here is another VR from the bottom (during a time of higher flow) and more information about the park.

The park is home to four nice waterfalls, and the trails between them are also very beautiful. The area is known as a temperate rain forest, and one of the paths was the topic for a “Forest” WWP entry (here on WWP and here on this site).

You can see this VR on the WWP site here (shortly…).
